USG Gypsum Plaster Retarders extend the set time of conventional plasters, veneer plasters, lime finish plasters and setting-type joint compounds. By slowing the chemical crystal formation that causes gypsum plaster to set or harden, USG Gypsum Plaster Retarders allow more time to complete each job.

USG Gypsum Plaster Retarders easily disperse into water prior to adding plaster and are available in the following formulations

• USG Standard Strength Retarder is recommended for slight to moderate (30 to 45 minutes) lengthening of set times for veneer and conventional plasters and setting-type joint compounds
• USG High Strength Retarder extends the set time by one to three hours and is especially suitable for machine-applied conventional gypsum plasters
• USG Retarder for Lime-Containing Plaster Products is designed for use with USG Diamond® Veneer Finish, USG Red Top® Brand Finish Plaster and USG Red Top® Gauging Plaster and Lime Finishes
